A new shared workspace is to be opened in downtown Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The future of the way employees work is unclear in a post-COVID-19 world.

In the past year, many people have been sent home to work. But will this continue when everyone is vaccinated?

A new room near the 19th and Howard has been converted into a common work space. Something Neeraj Agarwal, the CEO of Modus, says is going to help small businesses.

“It’s really meant to be a turnkey office space and really a small business incubator and ecosystem,” said Agarwal.

There are a number of spaces businesses can rent, from conference rooms to offices to a single desk. Agarwal believes this is the future of the workspace.

“Being in the office five days a week is not what most companies will do, and neither do most employees. You will see many people adapt to this reality by downsizing their office. “

Dr. Patti Meglich is Professor of Management at the UN College of Business Administration. She says it is still unclear what companies will do in the future.

It all depends on the type of company you work for and what you do.

“Some companies may require you to be on site“ x ”days per week. It can’t be 100% removed because we still want some of that personal interaction. We still need people who gather for certain functions, ”said Dr. Mega.

According to Dr. Much of the past, companies have opted for a co-op office style, and this could be a trend that will continue into the future.

“Companies have saved a lot of money by not having to go through all the hassle of running these huge offices where no one is actually manning them.”

Agarwal says a space like this will provide companies and employees with a place to thrive in the future.

“COVID has just created the need for a solution to the new standard with a hybrid approach.”

The new office space is due to open at the end of the month. The focus will be on helping minority and women owned small businesses.

There is an on-site advisory service, legal counseling and accounting firm available to help these companies get the resources they need to be successful.
