Arrested for the Omaha homicide

(Omaha, NE) – An arrest was made in the murder of a 22-year-old Omaha man.

According to Omaha Police, 22-year-old Brevin Fleming was arrested Thursday and booked on charges of 1st degree murder, 1st degree assault and two instances of gun use to commit a crime related to a Saturday afternoon shooting in Douglas County Corrections .

Police said just before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, officers responded to a shotspotter activation near 24th and Emmet. At the scene, the officers found two men who were gunshot wounds. Desmond Edwards, 21, was brought to Nebraska Medicine with non-life threatening injuries. Jumeez Sherman, 22, was also brought to Nebraska Medicine with critical, life-threatening injuries. Sherman died two days later, on Monday January 4th.
