Arrested in Saturday’s double homicide in northern Omaha
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Omaha police were arrested in an overnight shootout that killed two men that weekend.
Investigators arrested Omaha-year-old Mabior Mabior, 24, and he was posted to Douglas County Corrections early Monday, according to an OPD press release.
Mabior faces two deaths in the deaths of Loklok W. Thok, 27, and Duop Tang Deng, 24. and two instances where a weapon is used to commit a crime, the press release said.
“An extremely violent perpetrator is off the street,” said OPD in a tweet on Monday, applauding the hard work of detectives from murder and gang units.
Officials responded to an activation of Shot Spotter near Streets 24th and Emmet at 2:56 a.m. on Saturday and found the two men had been shot, the report said. One man was pronounced dead at the scene; The other died on the way to the Nebraska Medical Center.
