Community center named after Subby Anzaldo, longtime Omaha official
A former mayor of Omaha was honored for his service at the city council meeting on Tuesday.
Subby Anzaldo went before the city council today to hear that the Columbus Park Community Center is now being named after him.
Anzaldo served as interim mayor for a few months in 1994 after another mayor resigned and served on the city council for more than a decade.
“It was my pleasure to cut the tape for the community center, and now my name is wonderful to have and I can see that you got it right, too. Brook, you spelled it right,” he said at the unveiling.
Mayor Jean Stothert called Anzaldo a “lifelong attorney for Southern Omaha”.
Anzaldo informed the council that he would now still serve on the zoning board because of his poor health.
