Fire in the investigated South Omaha neighborhood

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Omaha Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire Thursday afternoon.

On April 22nd, a fire alarm was sent to a building near South 24th Street. Crews said they found large amounts of smoke in a building listed as a multi-story, empty, unsecured, wooden-framed funeral home.

According to the report, witnesses said the building is known as a meeting place for children and the homeless and was the site of a previous fire.

Officials want to inform the public that if anyone has information they can call the ARSON hotline at 402-444-FIRE or Crime Stoppers at 402-444-STOP.

(A reward may be available to anyone who has information that leads to an arrest.)
