Des Moines, Iowa (AP) – Most of the counties in Iowa refused to receive the coronavirus vaccine this week due to sluggish demand. Officials in the county with the lowest vaccination rates say they stopped injecting people.

Iowa Public Health Service officials said the state only ordered vaccines 7,850 times this week, and 81 of the 99 counties did not order vaccines, based on counts’ demand. ..

Wayne County’s public health regulator Sherry Bickel stopped trying to convince those hesitant to get vaccinated, saying, “We’re just fed up with fighting.”

Iowa reported 188 new confirmed coronavirus cases and nine more deaths on Wednesday.
