Midtown Omaha Assault turns into homicide

Omaha police say an attack on Friday night outside the Kubat pharmacy near 49th and Center Streets is now a murder case involving a person in custody.

Officers running to the scene said 60-year-old Carmen Terhaar was found stabbed to death.

She was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries by Omaha Fire paramedics and has since died.

At the scene, officers arrested their son, Alan Terhaar Jr., 26, without incident, and he was booked for first degree murder and gun use in a Douglas County Corrections crime.

According to the police, a detainee does not pose a major threat to the public.
