NDSU Softball shares double headers with Omaha Saturday

FARGO, ND – The North Dakota state softball team shared a double header with the Omaha Mavericks in Tharaldson Park on Saturday afternoon. The bison won the opener 3-1 before Omaha won the second game 5-3.
NDSU’s record is 13-22 overall and 8-6 in the Summit League. The two schools will play another double header on Sunday from 11 a.m.
Sophomore Lainey Lyle threw a two-hitter and only allowed one run in the 3-1 bison win. It registered seven strikes.
NDSU made two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Sam Koehn was unlucky, Avery Wysong played in the middle and Skylar Padgett brought them both forward with a mixed bag. Nicole Licea followed with her own Bunt to initiate a run, and newcomer Molly Gates made a sacrificial flight to the right on the next run.
Madyson Camacho added an RBI single in the fourth inning for NDSU.
In Game 2, NDSU’s Sam Koehn scored to give the Bison a 1-0 lead, but Omaha responded with five unanswered runs to take control. Pitcher Mac Schulz took the loss to NDSU and threw all seven innings.
Camacho went 3: 7 on the plate for the double header. Koehn and newcomer Emilee Buringa were both 2: 3 in the second game.
