Lincoln, Nebraska (AP) – Military retirees who reside in Nebraska after retirement will not be required to pay state taxes on their retirement income under the new state law.

Governor Pete Ricketts signed a full tax exemption in 2022.

Ricketts approved it outside the governor’s residence, surrounded by state lawmakers and veteran attorneys.

Gordon’s Senator Tom Brewer, who sponsors the bill, said the move would help Nebraska retain military retirees.
