Officers reveal imaginative and prescient for brand new on line casino in Omaha
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Officials are working to turn Horsemen’s Park into a real casino, but officials tell us it will take some time to polish the facility.
The casino gambling is on the way to Omaha’s Horsemen’s Park. When it arrives, the park will have a new look and name.
This is the vision of what Horsemen’s Park will be.
“There is obviously a lot of work that needs to be done on the property. It’s a massive facelift for what’s here right now, ”said Drew Niehaus, Director of Marketing at Warhorse Gaming. “It’s also the addition of a parking garage and a few other facilities.”
There is currently no schedule for when the changes will be made to the facility. It all depends on what happens to the virus.
“We don’t know what’s really going on with COVID. We expect there will be a full-blown casino operation in 2021, late 2021 and likely full-blown casino operations in 2022,” said Niehaus.
Officials know Warhorse Casino will bring jobs to Omaha.
“You probably speak to a thousand people at this location when all is said and done,” said Niehaus.
The Milts Golf Course and Driving Range are directly across from Horseshoe Park.
Mark Ordway owns Milts, the place is named after his father, the family opened Milts in 1969, it has grown to 35 acres and includes a driving range and 9-hole golf course.
Mark believes the Warhorse Casino will bring more traffic to the area and he hopes some of it will stop at his golf course.
“I think it will bring a lot of people to the area,” Ordway said. “I hope it should generate more business for me because people will see what we have here who have never been here.”
Mark says casino officials bought properties near his business to use for parking. He says he’s not worried about selling his family business, but he’ll listen to offers.
“Everything is for sale for the right amount Moving my wife out I can’t afford a divorce, you know,” Ordway said.
Mark hopes everything will work out. He says that if the casino is successful, so will his business.
Warhorse Casino’s director of marketing, Drew Niehaus, says the casino doesn’t have a real logo right now, but the casinos in Omaha, Lincoln, and South Sioux City will all bear the Warhorse name.
