Omaha festivals are ready for a comeback this summer
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Some of the biggest events of the summer are back in Omaha.
Taste of Omaha will call Elmwood Park home this year. The usual location, The Riverfront, is currently under construction.
But Mike Mancuso says the party won’t lose any of its excitement.
“One of our best parks in town. Centrally located with many free parking spaces with UNO around the campus, you can park here. You can go to this event or take our shuttle, ”said Mancuso.
As in the past, Taste of Omaha features grocery vendors and live music. The fun runs from June 4th to 6th.
On the same weekend, the Omaha Summer Arts Festival will have a twist this year. It will be a mix of online activities and in-person events in different locations.
“We have seven, eight by eight wall cubes. So these giant cubes are being dropped all over downtown Omaha. From North Omaha, South Omaha, Midtown Crossing and downtown, ”said Walz.
Some places have a head start, like Junkstock. It started last week and officials say it went really well.
“It was great. We’re celebrating our 10th anniversary this year and we expected to get a lot back. It’s been tough after the last few years. So last weekend was great. It’s starting to feel a bit more normal feel, ”said Schlegelmilch.
She also says people are more comfortable now compared to last year because of the vaccines and more. But they are still cautious.
“You definitely want to be safe and make sure everyone attending the events is safe. That’s just my recommendation to see what the leaders in the community are doing and make adjustments to make sure it fits your company too. “
