Omaha leaders sign the “I Choose Love” creed

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A graduate of the Sacred Heart assembled Omaha’s leaders to restore trust between the government and our community.

At Omaha Police Headquarters, Sacred Heart graduate Les “Pee Wee” Harrison brought local leaders to address polarization.

Governor Ricketts and Omaha’s Police and Fire Chiefs met Harrison to sign the “I Choose Love” creed.

Police Chief Todd Schmaderer says law enforcement has become part of a political polarization following the death of George Floyd.

He and Chief Dan Olsen, along with the governor, are committed to helping the community heal.

“We want to be part of the crowd, to say this is wrong … we have work to do,” said Schmaderer.

Governor Ricketts is the first governor to sign the Creed. This campaign plans to visit all 50 states to connect with other heads of state.

The “I Choose Love” campaign aims to bring the community and law enforcement together through sports camps this summer.
