Omaha Police arrest a man in connection with a shooting in a supermarket

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Omaha police arrested a man Tuesday in connection with a Saturday night shooting in a supermarket.

Gilbert McCabe, 43, was admitted to Douglas County Jail for a second degree crime, use of a gun to commit a crime, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited individual.

Officers went to 20th and Maple Streets to shoot on April 3 and found Deandre Jimerson, 31, suffering from a gunshot wound. Jimerson was rushed to Nebraska Medical Center in critical condition, but officials say his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Jimerson told police he was shot dead during an altercation in a supermarket on 2704 Florence Blvd.

The OPD Assault Unit detective identified McCabe and the shooting is still under investigation.
