Omaha residents come to Stuff the Bus food ride

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Omaha residents opened their hearts to the annual 6 news stuff The Bus Food Drive Thursday. The effort brought everything from macaroni and cheese to toothpaste to diapers. And those who donated were grateful for the opportunity.

“It just makes me happy because I help people who need food but don’t have enough money to eat,” said one donor. Another said, “I brought toilet paper, I brought toothpaste, you said, ‘Bring it,’ I brought spaghetti.”

The event took place from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Methodist Women’s Hospital on 192nd and Dodge and in the NP Dodge Building on 87th and Dodge. The food drive benefited the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry, which served more than 13,000 families in the Omaha area in 2020.

“It’s just so different this year, and last year was horrible, but thank you so much for being in our community,” said one donor. “It just makes me happy because I help people.”
