Omaha Teen is not charged in daddy’s shooting

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine said Wednesday that the 19-year-old, who was arrested on Sunday after his father was shot dead, is not being charged at the time.

Malik Williams was arrested at the scene of a midnight shooting near South 98th Avenue and Mockingbird Drive. The man was taken to Bergan Mercy, where staff found that his injuries were not life threatening.

Williams was initially charged with first degree assault and using a weapon to commit a crime, according to a previous police report.

“There are still more investigations to be carried out, including interviews,” said Klein. “But at this point, based on the evidence we’ve seen, we’re not going to charge him. We find that the measures he took were legally justified on the basis of the evidence available to us. But that’s where things are at this point. “
