Omaha will host the Summit League tournament and receive the number 3 seed | news

From The Mavericks will host the 2020-21 Summit League Women’s Football Tournament at Caniglia Field next week on Thursday April 15 and Saturday April 17. The field is No. 1 Denver, No. 2 South Dakota State, No. 3 Omaha, No. 4 South Dakota, the league announced on Sunday night.

There will be two semi-finals on Thursday, April 15th. The first game begins at 2:00 p.m. between Denver # 1 and South Dakota # 4. The second semifinals begins at 5:00 p.m. between the state of South Dakota # 2 and Omaha # 3.

Denver enters the tournament as number 1 of the regular season 14-2-1 (14-1-1). The Pioneers are currently on a six-game winning streak after winning the conference series with North Dakota, Omaha and Kansas City. Natalie Beckman leads Denver with 10 goals and 11 assists this year.

South Dakota State ended the regular season unbeaten with a 12-0-4 (12-0-4) record to take the number two. The Jackrabbits played twice in overtime with Omaha, one with Denver and one with South Dakota. SDSU won its last six with sweeps against North Dakota State, North Dakota and Western Illinois. Maya Hansen and Kayla Wisniewski each have seven goals and two assists a year to lead SDSU.

Omaha enters the tournament as number 3 after setting an 8-4-4 (8-4-4) record this year. The Mavericks ended the season with a 1-0 shutout against Western Illinois for the ninth shutout of the season. The striker Sophia Green leads with six goals, Andrea Daves and Hannah Heinemann five each. Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen holds a goal of .57 GAA for Omaha.

Rounding out the field is South Dakota No. 4. The Coyotes finished the season 9-6-1 (9-6-1) and took last place in the tournament with a sweep over North Dakota to complete the regular season. The Coyotes have won their last six and posted four direct shutouts. Alexis Mitchell leads USD with seven goals and four assists a year. Shaylee Gailus adds six goals and three assists.

Entry to Caniglia Field for the Summit League tournament is free for all fans.

Free parking spaces are available for all three games in the East multi-storey car park.
