Police confirm two dead in gunfire in northern Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Omaha police have now confirmed that both people died after an early morning shooting.

The victims were identified as Loklok W. Thok (27) and Duop Thang Deng (24).

Omaha police said a shootout killed one person and injured another person in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police say the call came in around 2:57 a.m. to fire shots near 24th and Emmet streets.

Upon arrival, officers found one person dead at the scene and another person had to be rushed to hospital with life-saving measures. The person who was taken to the hospital later succumbed to his injuries.

Police have not reported any arrests and say they are continuing to investigate the scene.

At the moment it is unclear what led to the shootings.
