Raising awareness of food insecurity in Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) – Northwestern University researchers estimate the pandemic doubled food insecurity.

For this reason, a college alumni association is raising awareness of the topic.

The Alumni Association of the Lambda Chi Alpha Brotherhood at the University of Nebraska, Omaha is hosting a food drive for the Maverick Food Pantry. The pantry supports students in the area and accepts gift cards, canned food and packaging, and toiletries.

“I think we realized that we might not have realized how wide the pandemic was and how people lost their jobs, and then you can’t wait for stimulus checks to show up. They have real needs,” Scott said Ussery.
