Rubbish assortment in Omaha, Council Bluffs delayed attributable to winter storm

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Litter collection experiences delays throughout the subway when heavy snow moves through the area.

On Sunday, the Public Works Department and the Environmental Quality Department announced that garbage collection will be delayed for one day due to the expected winter storm on Monday.

Monday’s collections are picked up on Tuesday, Tuesday’s collections are picked up on Wednesday, and so on for the rest of the week.

Officials advise residents to ensure the carts are parked by 6 a.m. the next scheduled day to ensure they are picked up.

Garbage collection and recycling will also be delayed in Council Bluffs.

The collection continues on Tuesday for those normally scheduled on Monday and a day later for the rest of the week.

The Council Bluffs Waste Disposal Department is also urging residents to clear a location free of snow and ice within five feet of the pavement to accommodate for collection. Garbage on a snowdrift may not be collected.
