Some Omaha residents are nonetheless ready for the rubbish service
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – You wouldn’t believe there are people who put my trash on their Christmas list, but some people in Omaha are still dealing with what they consider to be poor service from the town’s new trash haulier describe.
Garbage day in this neighborhood is tomorrow, but the folks who live around the 43rd and Erskine are wondering if the trucks will even show up.
“So, they should be here last Thursday to pick it up. We thought they might come on Friday, they still haven’t got it and we’re still waiting,” said George Turner.
George Turner says his neighborhood waited about two weeks for their trash to be picked up.
“It’s frustrating that you can see that our trash cans are full, my neighbour’s trash cans are full, and we have trash that needs to be picked up. We have trash bags that go with this trash,” said Turner.
With all that garbage, George thinks of the old garbage days.
“The old service was pretty consistent, they came on time, just if they didn’t come on the typical Thursday it was when there was a public holiday, then they came and picked it up on Friday,” said Turner.
George called the helpline to ask for help, but all he hears is music.
“When I called they said they had higher than normal call volume and I was on hold. I am on hold,” Turner said.
When we left George he was on hold for about half an hour and the trash in his neighborhood is still waiting to be picked up.
We spoke to officials from Omaha City today. They told us that the number of complaints has decreased and they are making progress. City officials say they hope everyone is caught up before Christmas.
