All concerts in the arena have been postponed or canceled since March. Only three entertainment events – two concerts and a WWE event – are scheduled for August and September.
“It’s hard to know what the community standards will be at this point,” said Kristyna Engdahl, spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority, which runs the arena.
Even if events could take place there, arena concerts are usually much larger than the limit of 3,000 people allowed under the new guidelines. And it may not be economically feasible for a touring band to play an arena and sell so few tickets.
Five concerts have been postponed or canceled in the last few days.
“Many organizers look to the year 2021,” said Engdahl.
Arena officials are investigating social distancing parameters, including protocols for cleaning the arena and possible capacity constraints. The 3,000 person limit gives you something to consider.
