The Omaha Labor Council supports the mayoral candidate RJ Neary

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Omaha Federation of Labor announced its endorsement of Democratic mayoral candidate RJ Neary.

“As Mayor of Omaha, RJ Neary will be a true friend of the working people. We are confident that he has a way to win this spring. Our members and delegates will work to make this happen, ”OFL President and Senator Mike McDonnell said in a press release from the candidate earlier this month.

The OFL is one of around 500 state and local AFL-CIO councils. The labor organizations represent thousands of the Nebraska workforce, the news release said.

“I am very grateful for this important confirmation. I look forward to working with the Omaha Fed to get the Omaha economy going again after COVID, “Neary, who is also chairman of Investors Realty, said in the statement.

Neary was also endorsed by the Nebraska Chapter of the Sierra Club, a national organization focused on environmental issues.

“Coping with our changing climate was the focus of my campaign. I am grateful that the Sierra Club, a national environmental leader, got the approval, ”said Neary, who released his climate plan in February, according to his campaign.

Four more are currently fighting for incumbent Mayor Jean Stothert: Mark Gudgel, Jasmine Harris, Dawaune Lamont Hayes and Kimara Snipes. In the general election in May, the two best voters in the primary will face each other.
