The seat of the Omaha Council is opened with the election of the council member of the fifth district to the state parliament

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Omaha City Council congratulated Rich Pahls on his election to Nebraska state legislature and announced Thursday that it would accept motions for his 5th District seat.

The selected applicant would sit in the seat for the duration of Pahls’ tenure, which begins June 6, 2021 and ends in January.

Prospects must be a registered voter residing in Omaha District 5 for at least one year.

Applicants must submit a letter and résumé to the Omaha City Clerk by 3:00 pm on December 3rd. These can be delivered by hand. Email to [email protected]; or to the town clerk Elizabeth Butler, Omaha / Douglas Civic Center, 1819 Farnam St. Suite LC-1, Omaha NE 68183.

According to a press release from the council, councilors will be able to conduct interviews before the council announces the nomination on December 17th. These candidates appear on the agenda of the city council on December 22nd. At that point the council will vote to fill the seat.

The new council member is expected to be inaugurated at the council meeting on January 12th.
