Try Omaha for a bigger police presence this year
OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) – Thousands will be flocking downtown this weekend to attend the Taste of Omaha food festival. Last year a woman was shot while leaving the event. This year the Omaha Police Department says they are ready to prevent it from happening.
In 2018, Jasmine Harris left the taste of Omaha when she was caught in the crossfire and killed by rival gangs. She was only 50 feet from her car when it happened.
A handful of others were also injured in the chaos, but recovered.
On Wednesday, the Omaha Police Department announced that twice as many gang unit officers would be available to handle the crowd.
