A couple and their dog are safe after being rescued from an icy lake on Thursday evening.

OMAHA, Neb. – A couple and their dog are safe after being rescued from an icy lake on Thursday evening. The couple’s dog is said to have freed itself to hunt birds on the lake behind Lakeside Hospital near 173rd and Frances Streets.

The couple and the dog both fell into the ice. All three were saved. The couple were rushed to the hospital while the dog was being transported to the Nebraska Humane Society. The injuries were not life threatening to either the couple or the dog.
