Union Omaha wins the season opener at home

PAPILLION, Neb. (WOWT) – Union Omaha opened its second season on Saturday at Werner Park with a 2-0 win over South Georgia Tormenta FC.

Evan Conway, who scored the team’s first goal last season, scored the Owls’ first goal in the 22nd minute after a beautiful pass from Connor Doyle.

The pass put Conway in front of the defense, no one but the goalkeeper between him and a score.

He sent it with his left foot for a 1-0 lead.

It stayed 1-0 until the 83rd minute when Greg Hurst sneaked into the net and took a 2-0 lead.

The defense stayed strong, which included a great effort from goalkeeper Rashid Nuhu.

Union Omaha is playing its next six games on the road.

You won’t be returning to Werner Park until June 12th.

It’s also a little break for the team.

The next game on the schedule is Friday May 7th against Ft. Lauderdale CF.

The start time has yet to be determined.
